Project Description

The construction of-this immense and complex project began in 1967, its target being to provide a gateway for the phenomenal construction and growth of the country.
In several consecutive stages the company constructed 16 deep-water berths, a slipway, transit sheds, 200,000 sq.m of warehouses, the impressive Pilgrims' Hall, all port buildings and shore installations including electrical, telephone, roads and pavements, water supply, sewerage, water drainage and other utilities.
Stage IV, completed in 1982, doubled the port's capacity with 20 additional deepwater berths, container terminal facilities, transit sheds, warehouses and road facilities.
