Our History

Archirodon's journey

Archirodon’s journey started in 1959, when two Greek visionary engineers, owners of the Greek firms Archimidis, Greece’s foremost marine contractor at the time and Odon & Odostromaton, a road construction specialist group, formed a joint entity to expand their activities internationally.

1959

Archimedes S.A. and Odon & Odostromaton S.A. merged and formed Archirodon ​

Our operations in Libya commenced​

1962

The execution of the complete renovation and expansion of the iconic Port of Beirut in Lebanon was awarded​

1967

Jeddah Port complex construction began to provide a gateway for the sustainable development of the country​

1969

Dammam Port in Saudi Arabia started, followed by a significant sequence of works resulting in a major development of the port​

1974

Our presence in UAE was launched​

Construction activities of Yanbu Port in Saudi Arabia started contributing to the rapidly developing industrial city of Yanbu​

The impressive port development of Sharjah Port in UAE, was added to our portfolio

1979

Our operations expanded to cover highly demanding Defense & Security projects​

1981

Oman was added to our geographical growth​

1980

The landmark project of Palais de Sports in Athens was awarded​

1987

Jordan was added to the countries we operate with the construction of government buildings​

Our growth was extended in Yemen, Egypt, Philippines and Sudan​

1990

We expanded in Oil & Gas and Power & Water​ Business

1991

The complex project of Yanbu Desalination Plant in Saudi Arabia was awarded​

1992

Kuwait was added to our strategic global expansion​

1993

Bahrain was added to our worldwide presence​

Riyadh Bridge in Saudi Arabia was included to our extensive Infrastructure projects​

1996

Commencement of works for the Oman LNG Terminal​

2001

Commencement of our significant presence in Qatar​

The iconic project of Palm Island in Dubai was added to our portfolio​

2002

Operations in Singapore were established with the major pipeline project of Changi Outfall in water depths ranging from -40m to -52m​

2003

Our operations in Kazakhstan commenced with the construction of the artificial island of Kashagan East Field​

2007

The major Khalifa Port in UAE was awarded​

We further expanded in Europe with projects in Latvia and Malta​

2008

Romania was added to our presence in Europe with a high-quality government building​

2010

Ras Al Khair project, the largest desalination plant in the world, was added in our portfolio​

2011

Our presence in Africa was further established with projects in Morocco and Djibouti​

2012

Operations in Iraq commenced with the iconic Al Faw Port​

Establishment of a branch​ office in Turkmenistan ​

Our portfolio was enriched with the award of the complex project of Zirku Island in UAE​

2014

Our presence in Africa continued with further operations in Mauritius​

SemArco, our affiliate in Central Asia and the CIS countries, was established​

Acquisition of shares of EKME fabrication​

2016

Construction works commenced in Yanbu South Terminal in Saudi Arabia​

2018

Acquisition of Technipetrol Hellas S.A. Engineering Company from Technip FMC, renamed to Archipetrol S.A.

2019

The Laayoune Port in Morocco and the upgrade of the giant BAB onshore oil field in UAE further highlighted the trust of our partners and the success of our demonstrated capabilities​

2020

Our infrastructure portfolio was enriched with the major development of Etihad Rail, which commenced despite the pandemic challenges in 2020​

2021
